SPOTLIGHT: JAIME RAHNEJAT

Get a better body, mind, and spirit with our new yoga instructor Jaime Rahnejat

Jaime Rahnejat, a new yoga instructor, will be teaching at Parkmerced starting September 7th. Jamie has been practicing yoga for several years and says she was inspired to become a yoga instructor after seeing her mother's career as a professional dancer.

"I saw how hard my mom worked and how it took a toll on her body," she says. "I wanted to learn more about how to protect my body, both in young and old age."

Jaime is excited to bring the benefits of yoga to the residents of Parkmerced and help them live healthier and more balanced lives. She thinks yoga is unique compared to other fitness activities because it focuses on both the mind and the body.

"It's not just about getting a good workout," she says. "It's about connecting with your breath and your body and finding inner peace. Yoga has helped me to become more present and aware both on and off my mat. I hope to help my students develop their own yoga practice so that they can experience the same benefits."

Jaime's classes will focus on alignment and breathwork, and she will be able to provide modifications for all levels. Her classes will be a great way for residents to get some exercise, relax, and connect with others in the community. She hopes that students will come away from her classes feeling more in tune with their bodies and minds.

Jaime believes that the key to a successful yoga practice is consistency and listening to your body. She encourages her students to be aware of how their bodies are feeling and to modify poses as needed.

"Yoga is special because it emphasizes how the body feels. In yoga, we focus on alignment and breathwork to help people connect with their bodies and minds. I love helping people understand how their bodies move and why certain poses are beneficial for overall health. Yoga is also a great way to meet new people and build community," said Jaime.

Some of the most challenging poses for beginners are Warrior I and II, said Jamie. These poses require a lot of balance and coordination. Jaime says that the key to mastering these poses is to focus on your breath and be patient.

Jaime offers a variety of classes that are suitable for all levels, from beginner to advanced. She is also available for private sessions and can tailor a practice to meet your specific needs. Jaime's classes will be held in the community room at South Shore Apartments on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:00 pm. The class is free to residents.

We're so excited to have Jaime teaching at Parkmerced and we hope you'll join us for a class! If you're interested, please sign up at the front desk or call (415) 405-4640. We hope to see you there!
