VENDOR SPOTLIGHT: ENGRAFFT

Wearable art for all occasions

Ever see the perfect piece of art and wish you could show everyone everywhere? Derek Hanneman, founder of ENGRAFFT, may have the answer you’re looking for at the Block Party held on the first Saturday of each month in Juan Bautista Circle.

A lifelong artist, Derek opened his company in 2014, creating a unique fusion of art and goods. The concept of the brand is “A combination of original graphic art “Living Styles”, various art forms, clothing and goods merged conceptually like parts of plants being grafted together into a new hybrid form. Aiming to ENGRAFFT people’s minds and bodies, inspire and make a permanent mark.” Says Derek.

Before starting ENGRAFFT, Derek did custom shoes for people during and after high school, as well as dabbling in designing t-shirts, which eventually led to starting his brand years later. While studying graphic design in college, knowing how he really enjoyed making his art wearable, Derek decided that starting a clothing and goods line as an extension of his art would be an enjoyable, realistic, and effective way to get his art out there and hopefully make a living from it.

The line is composed of handmade screen-printed streetwear essentials – long sleeve shirts, t-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, pins, stickers, and patches. “The clothing is super soft and among the themes in the designs are San Francisco inspired graphics, as well as a variety of other subject matter that appeals to many interests as well as a broad range of ages.”

Derek looks forward to being a vendor at the Block Party at Parkmerced. “I’m always looking for new markets to try out and was intrigued by the new audience that may enjoy the ENGRAFFT brand and its functionality. I’m looking forward to meeting new customers at the Block Party.
